Ok so I think I figured it out.
Society the game is "be as mean as possible, but be careful, make sure everyone still thinks you're nice! Don't get caught! Now go steal food out of others mouths and be a general dick, but appear nice when others are looking!!"
Life is sad, humans are pathetic and transparent and selfish and rotten, and nonhumans are always wondering what they did wrong to be surrounded by such monsters.
