lol this us why I love the x files and the 90s in general you could just do a throwaway joke about male rape (in the context of the story it was presented in joke format. These days it would have to be implied if allowed at all, no way could you have John Wick go "The next rape you experience will probably be your own" as a "lol he's so hardcore he threatened the guy with rape"-joke because people would find that distasteful and monstrous.
And that's not to say John Wick wouldn't be allowed to rape a rapist as a form of punishment, it's just that it would not be tolerated as a joke, it would only be acceptable as a serious and dark moment.
@Jazzy_Butts Good Luck Chuck (2007) and Hit and Run (2012) both have jokes about male rape, so it lasted a bit longer than the 90s. And they're just what I can think of off the top of my head. Hit and Run has something like "Oh, you got raped by an Asian in prison? They're like the girliest men there are, that's practically straight".
