The first time i got paddled was in kindergarten during my first few weeks of school

I grabbed a blue plate underneath a red plate and when I was seen doing this a lunch lady scolded me and told me to put it back and grab a red one instead
Having seen other children do it before me I decided to inform her that she was stupid and that I should be able to have a blue plate if I wanted one
that was enough for them to beat me a couple times with a board and for me to get punished again when i got home

Though I had been whipped with belts and tree branches by my family plenty of times at this point and I was already learning what it felt like to get beat up by other children, it took this moment to make me realise life was really fucking dogshit
I had just turned 5

This was the only year my school had blue plates
It is still allowed to paddle children at school in Alabama in 2025
