why do sponsors insist on putting their ads at the start of the video where the viewer is at the point in time where they want to exit out of a video THE LEAST.

"yeah im gonna pause this video from a content creator i like to click on this link" t. nobody at all
@mono If it's at the end everyone will leave before the read. It makes sense.
@rhinocock yes, but the people who stay are a lot more likely to click because they are not interrupting something they want to do

What is an ad?

Of course I just had do insert an adblock joke, but youtube is just amazing. There are about 10 creators I would love to sponsor. So, whenever I think about creating some magical exception for their videos, I realize that all of them are demonetized anyway, so the money would still go only to youtube.

@LukeAlmighty @mono If you really want to give them money ads aren't the way regardless. They receive barely anything from those ads. Through a few bucks at their Patreon.
@rhinocock @LukeAlmighty

this is about sponsor spots. sponsors have rules about where they want their spots, and many explicitly specify that it has to go at the beginning.

this is a short sighted business decision that only makes sense when the audience doesn't have the ability to double tap the right arrow to skip it.
@mono @LukeAlmighty There's no difference, fundamentally. I'm not making any claims to the legitimacy of marketing but there is a method to it.
