Bad graphics? ok...
Gameplay downgrade? ok...
Missing pokemon? 
Now that is a PR suicide. Did they forgot that their entire catch line is "gonna catch them all"?
When I heard that one, I was so dumb founded, I still haven't fully recovered.
That said, the fact that they cut over 400 Pokemon, yet brought back the Garbage Pokemon AND the Ice Cream Cone Pokemon was like a giant Fuck You to the fanbase.

Still a ton would be ok for anything else, but that is the problem. This series entire point was to let collectors catch and trade in order to get them all. Even in original, It required 2 games and at least 3 runs through...
But now, they broke the illusion. It's like going to a 5* restaurant, but instead of luxurious surrounding and waiters that smile and laugh at your every bad joke, you hear loud rock and the waiter is bored and smoking.
The food can still be "food wars" level of good, but the illusion of perfection is gone.
