"figuring out your gender" is the most self indulgent bougie crap and if you say that and talk about "gender" like its some numinous enigma everyone finds you insufferable. i parse trans shit like this-- we are a sexually dimorphic species, what kind of sexed body do you want? (includes androgyny) which sex (or lack thereof) do you want to be "treated as", cause we live in a lame society with dumb shit like gender roles and gendered pronouns? (im not saying gendered speech shouldn't exist, it just should be optional and not required syntactically.) now you have to conduct a cost benefit analysis. is it worth it to achieve at best a simulacrum of the sexed body you desire given the medical (and social if you dont pass or have a garbage family) repercussions? likewise is enforcing how you want to be treated something you can justify if you (which is the most probably outcome particularly for trans women) arent always percieved as the sex you desire to be?
there are so many "am I trans" quizzes on the internet and questions in forums about if you're "really trans". people would feel much better about themselves if they stopped looking for an immanent gender essence and started thinking about what they want and is it worth it.
