Women go for broke loosers with any other addiction. Gaming seems to be one of the least destructive when I look at it.

I don't know if all women are like this but, the reason they pick other addicts or 'losers' over people that play videogames is deeply related to libido, don't look just at what gaming is but all its implications as for the implications that being a pothead are for example, overall the life of the pothead is more interesting even if they are a 'loser' since pot in some places is ilegal or taboo where as games aren't. Games get the same treatment than anime, and is kinda true, when your entire life revolves around media consumption that's boring... this is gonna sound incredibly cringe but I don't care, see life as an adventure and your partner being literally that. For what I have seen most girls are looking for someone that can make them laugh, someone to spend her time in the best way possible, someone to have experiences with, and a game/anime bro is not usually that because all their energy is pumped into that.

Now everything I just told you they are unaware of, it is a unconscious process that goes in their head, a instant reaction of repulsion or appreciation.

@LukeAlmighty doesn't really matter about proof and doesn't really matter if it's actually a stereotype. Many people think this. I asked my girl what she thought and she agreed. Also said she doesn't really feel like competing with a video game.
