you’re saying now we’re learning how to make HIV, malaria and maybe even cancer vaccines?????
WHY DID IT TAKE A WORLD PANDEMIC TO APPLY ALREADY EXISTING TECHNIQUES TO THE WORLD’S BIGGEST HEALTH ISSUES

@xerz In short, because they weren't already existing techniques. The technology used to make the COVID vaccines wasn't ready for use even two years ago. We basically got really lucky with the timing.
@terrana I thought mRNA wasn’t that recent? ![]()
@terrana (I mean, the mRNA-based vaccines, not messenger RNA in itself)
@xerz @naruciakk @terrana
Do not forget that you're talking abour RNA... Wether you think that altering persons DNA is or is not extremely dangerous (even if only in a few cells), there is a huge group of people who do.
Such controversial technologies do not usually get much " public research". As far as I know, eugenics and cloning simply are inevitavle, but until 1 year ago, people would stone you to death just for mentioning it.
@LukeAlmighty @xerz @naruciakk @terrana Changed DNA that can be introduced into the human DNA within generations. Vaccine this lifetime that your genetic line with thank you for, for generations. Or will it ?
