What is the point of having client-server architecture? For instance, decentralized chat services like Matrix or XMPP: users have to choose a server and then trust it (it is unusual that someone would install own server). This is the main blocker. Why can't we have just server-less apps which connect each with another? Almost every device is always online nowadays. Chat services or filesharing can be done easily #serverless.

You will never truly appreciate the beauty of client-server architexture until you play GTA online... :alexjonessmile2:

The ammount of hacking in that game is something unpresidented, and that could be completelly fixed by private servers.

@LukeAlmighty sure, for some purposes it is worth to have central servers (as central point for multiple users).. but chat services do not need any central points.. they are more like a web.. moreover, in this case a central point means control.. someone has your data or metadata.. i would like to see a chat app which would work #serverless and synchronize among my multiple devices.. this is perfectly doable.. filesharing also works using DHT.. clients acts as servers..
