Ok, here's the promissed follow-up to this post :comfygeek:

I'm a bit surprised that more than a quarter of you would choose to take the pill. And also, I expected more gay. This is fedi, come on guys! :comfyxd:

My choice would be negative right now. 50% is too much, especially since I'm young and awesome. However, if I were 60, 50% would be quite acceptable. For me personally right now, the acceptable risk would be around 7-8%, which is about a ballpark estimate that I die in the next ten years given my current lifestyle and other factors.

In your last post, you called a Pascal's wager with inclided propability.

Instead of us having to guess what haven looks like and if it's real, you made it into a mathematical formula with all variables already in place.

50 percent chance that I'll loose 1-80 years of life and 50 percent chance of infinity compared to 100 percent chance of living 1-80 years.

This 50 percent to gain immortality is realy incomparable to mere average 40 years I'll have this way. The question then is, Are you ready to die, and do you realy want immortality?

@LukeAlmighty oh but it’s a whole different problem. The way I stated it, by taking a pill you merely remove one variable, namely aging. You can take it and get run over by a bus the very same day. Would kinda suck, wouldn’t it?

What I’m really curious is to probe how people calculate whether they should accept the risk that c00f vax carries versus just flanking it and possibly contracting the c00f. One has an order of magnitude or two bigger chances to kill you, but taking a vax shot is a conscious choice a person makes. Consciously taken risks are usually perceived a lot higher than the stuff that just happens.

I would be curious to talk to my irl friends about this, but the whole idea of questioning c00f vax is so politicized, one of my sorts friends declared me an antivaxxer and refuses to talk to me now.

How about this one? Chance of covid death is 1 percent.

This shitty government had took more then 1 percent of my life on their stupid crusade against the coof.

Statistically speaking, the government had killed me already. Coof is now confirmed to caused me more damage then the statistical coof ever could.

@LukeAlmighty the chances of you dying from coof are a lot smaller than 1%. I assume you’re in your 20s and don’t have any chronic conditions that could make things worse.

Regardless, I don’t think your calculations here are reasonable. You can’t apply probabilities for entire population to yourself personally that easily. In the sense that, 1% of the population can die but 1% of you cannot. Your are either dead or not dead.

And also, the question of whether governments handled the coof correctly is an entirely separate matter. But I think many people agree that most countries fucked this up big time.
@newt @LukeAlmighty where the government fucked up:
1) Not closing down boarders immediately in order to save face with the ProgressiveWoke crowd.
2) Trusting anything that came from the CDC after they said it wasn't human to human transmissible
3) Lying to its citizens about where the wuflu came from, it's capabilities, the effects on the body and what chemicals where necessary to actually clean this virus off hands and surfaces( the Canadian health authority claimed It’s “bleach, alcohol and hydrogen peroxide aren’t effective for cleaning away the virus” when even I, an undereducated pleb, knows Bleach and alcohol is literally the only chemicals that can clean it away
@LukeAlmighty @ImpoliteFemale oh I’m aware of all this. It’s not up for debate. What I’m curious is how people calculate what amount of risk is acceptable for them when it comes to getting a vax shot or flanking it.

@newt @LukeAlmighty I was going to get my 5Gnanodeathbots but then they were all like “you’re not eligible,” and “there’s a chemical in the vaccines that would cause a severe allergic reaction” pfffffttt government is mad at me for being so loud about my opposition toward it and won’t give me mind robits to save me from the wuflu

@newt
You asked how I did the calculations :D

Obviously, the calculations are made by each person and every person gets different result of what they need to do. But government is stealing this choice from everyone. And I will never forgive them what they did. Because what they did was a power grab. Nothing else.

I also condemn everyone who I hear the "they were saving lives" line from. There are some lines you never cross. And most of them were totally ignored last year.
