I have been debating this topic here several times already, so sorry if I won't respond with extreme enthusiasm.
As far as I can tell, there are 3 main issues.
1) lack of installers
2) ridiculously confusing file system
3) complex user privileges
Do you need any further information on these?

I dunno. I couldn't figure out how to install Xorg with FreeBSD.
