No good. Then you still got that single point of failure to worry about.
If you make the assumption that consciousness uses quantum entanglement, then in theory you could create an entangled consciousness on a server, or in a robot, or both, and you would essentially have a high-availability soul.
Would be how I'd do mind uploading.

Didn't click through but, my best guess would be trying to slow down decay and errors in gene copying, which I believe is the only reason we age.
