@deprecated That's a long and fart-sniffing way of saying academia is politicized and science if more about marketing than actual discovery.

The word simulacrum should be banned.
@SystemSock @deprecated >the world limulacrum should be banned Tell me about it, I had to look it up. I have to advocate for jargon a lottle bit, however, because it serves the purpose of slipping past people who would misunderstand the meaning in its context and as a result get angry/upset or whatever. Working in the medical field a little I've seen how people react strongly to certain keywords and draw very unreasonable conclusions from what they hear because they don't have the big picture the same way the doctor or the nurse does. For example writing "morbidly obese" in the charts will make the patient think "they're calling me fat, how dare they" but if we just write "BMI 45", everyone who needs to use that information will know what it means while the patient's experience remains much more positive. Now it might sound like obfuscating information from the patient for the sake of elitism, but it's more about the fact that it's hard to help people who resent you, no matter how silly the reason might be. And let me tell you, there's a lot of silly reasons.

What a perfect example. Just immagine why would I ever have trust issues, when the doctor, who I should trust with my fucking life cannot say that I should loose half of my weight...

@LukeAlmighty @deprecated @SystemSock If all it took was to tell people to lose weight, there would be no obesity problem. And I specifically talked about formatting the text on the charts. It's not like you can't look up any stuff you can't understand, y'know?

@moth_ball @deprecated @SystemSock
Not sure why you dodged it.

You said, that the change in wording is to hide the information from the reader. If he has to do research, then doctors role is again deminished. I go to the doctor in order to find out what is wrong, and how to fix it. When he hides it from me, why even bother? The trust is broken already

And noone said that loosing wright is easy.
