@LukeAlmighty is there any oversight? Many companies are either so large or so dysfunctional that you can be completely incompetent and stay under the radar for years.

Nah, it's just the psychological anuse of any preemptive job.

I don't find anything -> I am useless.
I find anything -> All I'm doing is slowing down the development. + I am working on a broken produkt -> I am useless.

So, I hope you can see the dilema.

Everyone hates you. There's no win. Management will be upset that you're slowing development, devs hate your tests, find too many bugs you're a pedantic asshole, find too little "what am I paying you for?!"
The only thanks you get a swirly at best.

Doing your own development and QA at the same is an order of magnitude more shitty.
