Seriously, I wish I knew the words to describe just how much I hate that quote. It is exactly the type of moral cowardace I was complaining many times before. It is the pinnacle of apathy disguised as wisdom. And most importantly, it ignores the fact that not choosing is an active choice to let both other choice flourish.

So, let me finish with a quote too.

@LukeAlmighty @zatrsakr Those rants happen because admins don't want to ban instances. It's a tool that the software already comes with. Easy solution.
Free speech idealism is just hypocrisy. Those same admins follow state rules to ban certain types of content, or content that's just too annoying. Like gore, spam, or things that the State considers a crime.
So it's not so "free" speech after all, it's legal speech, comfy speech, but not 100% free speech.
But somehow they keep this false image of "defenders of the holy free speech" by allowing degenerate instances of the worst kind, and literally spreading their content far and wide throughout the Fediverse.

Obviously, the spirit of free speech lies in the principle of "pursuit of happiness". I agree that not every moral principle is perfectly defined, but human philosophy is imperfect in that way. Some principles do lack a phrase to express them precisely.

That being said, I get your point. And it is a devastating one, because it is actually precise in breaking the entire principle. It asks, if people are willing to defend illegal and immoral speech, as well as defining it.

It is a libertarian ekvivalent to asking a feminist if a woman should be allowed and encouraged to have a healthy family.

@LukeAlmighty @zatrsakr Whenever I ban an instance, the name of that instance appears on my About page. It's right there, wanna listen to them? Wanna hang out with them? Be my guest. You're free to do so. Type in their url on your browser, and voila, you're there. Free speech respected.

Not banning horrible instances that are indistinguishable or worse than one user with any accounts, while banning individual users is hypocrisy at best.

@LukeAlmighty I don't agree with the quote too. It suits Geralt, the outcast, witcher. But is not suitable for people that live in society.
