When I arrived at my destination, I’d get into a cab outside of the train station and ask for a nice inexpensive hotel. After getting a hotel room, I’d ask the locals what they like to do and I’d do that for the whole weekend.
I’ve seen Switzerland, Poland, Austria and Italy in this exact manner and I had the time of my life.
