Me: Try finding a web comparing charities.
Found 2... Both rated ADL as recomended, one rated Autism speaks as recomended (the other didn't have a listing for it)

And none had a proper "controversies" section.

So this is why. It is safer to throw money into air, because that way, there is 90 percent chance it won't be used to hurt me.
