That’s how it works, dude. We are a largely a product of our environment. Genetics do have an impact, but it’s culture and socioeconomics that are the driving factors.

Well, what does it change, since they refuse to let go of the thug life?
Functionally we made a mistake in not considering street gangs a civil war and acting accordingly. If we'd systematically rooted then out like an enemy force in a war it'd be interesting to see the resulting statistics a generation later.
