IDK what the current tranny thread is all about but I just heard a story about awkward trans encounters. A friend’s work swapped out a big contract/client/business relationship (i still don’t fully understand what they do, it’s part tech and part infrastructure) because their point of contact, who until recently was a balding 6’3 man weighing 230 pounds, showed up to their new project meeting wearing a very revealing “cocktail dress”. The meeting, formerly a functioning work environment that was often comfortably productive, ended up being spent on at least 10 minutes of the troon carefully policing everyone on their use of HER correct pronouns with no small amount of hostility, despite the fact that (he said) they had been very accommodating and open to it. They’re just as corporate as any other company, I don’t buy the idea that anyone was looking to offend off the bat.

The second the meeting began, he said he picked up on the changes in plan when he heard it contravene his impression of this job that’s been a certain thing. His boss was clear that this wasn’t really a project just yet, it’s more of a provisional brainstorming session between them because they aren’t sure the funding is there just yet. He said the meeting was extremely awkward and stilted, and when it was over they all dispersed in silence with some subtle “hoooh-ly shit” eye glances. When he followed boss man into his office, the first thing the guy said was “okay, if they’re willing to send out whatever the hell THAT whole thing was, they’re not serious about us. Hell, I’d rather they send us some ambitious intern instead of whatever we’re supposed to make about…..whatever. So, guess we’re looking to make a new relationship, drop everything and find me some leads on who can replace them, if we can get things moving fast enough we can stay on schedule”
