The boys spoilers

@famine@fedi.ruinouspowe.rs Hey I watched the boys and got to about s3 ep 2 before I decided to dip.

Overall I'd say it was pretty meh imo. I was expecting something more akin to invincible but I got something more like scandal but with superheroes.

Like the characters felt pretty one note especially homelander and I think huey was the only real character that had some depth to him. While everyone else got a bit too much screentime.

Also I just didn't find the humor funny. Like the show isn't that subtle and seems like it'll flash a weird or gross scene and shout ok laugh now.

Like the scene with ashley fucking the director or homelander standing on a rooftop jacking off while saying he's the best.

Like idk I was just watching and was like ok yup that's a thing I guess.

It's kinda hard for me to express what I don't like about it but I guess it was very underwhelming and even more cynical than later Rick and Morty. To the point of being kinda bitter.

@Weeble @famine
I totally agree.
While the shock value is something that makes it different, the main character conflict is so devalued, that by the season 3, you no longer even know why anyone is doing what they do.

I get especially pissed off at all the pointless "Let's torture aquaman" scenes. These scenes exist for no other reason then say: See this guy we expect you to hate? Let's put him through even MORE PAIN.

I don't really disagree with any of that

I do think the newest season is super fun but I'm also a Jensen Ackles fanboy dating back to supernatural. There's a few fun bits (Black Noir's cartoon pals, the musical number with Frenchie)

I feel there are lots of pointless subplots like Frenchie/Tomoko, the Hughie romance
I like watching homelander and his fragility

But the Deep torture porn only gets worse in S4 too
He's an awful person and has it coming but it's still hard to watch, mostly because it almost always incorporated an innocent sea creature

Still fun to watch for me

@famine@fedi.ruinouspowe.rs I wanna like homelander but he's just not charming enough for me.

But I did think the scene where he let the plane crash with ppl in it was pretty kino.
