I almost forgot that thing existed.
It's also cult tactics. The genderspecial cult suckers people in with promises of unconditional love and acceptance, gets them to burn their bridges with their old, "toxic" friends and family, and makes them completely dependent on validation from cult leadership. And it's exceedingly difficult to break that pattern of thought once it sets in, hence the self-destructive behaviors. The need for approval outstrips the need for self-preservation.
