I think he genuinely wants to help young men. The problem is he cannot objectively look at what is going on right now in the world because like most boomers he was indoctrinated with that diabolical post-war "we are oppressors" narrative. That's why his takeway from Solzhenitsyn is that we are all potential Auschwitz guards instead of making the direct observation that Solzhenitsyn did about the Gulags and communism. He feels obligated to make everything about the Holocaust instead of about what is really going on in our actual world at present.

Well, but that DOES make him destructive. His intentions don't really even matter in the end, if he believes, that self-sacrefice is the solution to all of my problems.
That's because his religion is Joseph Campbell and his only begotten son, Pinocchio.
