I don’t think I could hire someone based purely on IQ, but it sure does give a good indicator of the kind of work a person could do. Manual labor, lower management, right brain creativity (“art”), left brain creativity (“science” or “programming”), etc.
In the tech world, I see different levels of ability…
Install things with a GUI
Install things with a CLI
Automate installing things with scripts
Write actual code
(And even in “write actual code” there are divisions.)
I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some IQ correlation with each category. Other fields probably have similar hierarchies.

To be fair, people in sales can just expect you to work, while managers have to ensure you can work.
