Yes.
It was my 2nd metroid game, and I loved it.
The combat is improved to be even faster, while still requiring you to master the same principles as previous games.

My first Metroid was fusion.
@LukeAlmighty I've only played Super Metroid and the Prime trilogy. While I enjoyed them, I wouldn't consider myself a huge fan of the series or anything. Dread seems like a really solid game in its own right, though

Dread was a great game but it didn't really feel quite like Metroid. It IS a lot of fun though so I don't recommend passing it up.
