The coming decade is going to be really interesting for Canada

I’m not seeing a lot of evidence that Canadians are going to be able to make it through the economic troubles without casualties and I wonder just how much “Canadians” are getting in subsidies to support them. I can’t imagine they’re getting by just based on regular income
Getting subsidies is an important part of it. You should be applying for gibs wherever you can, and putting it into things that'll last.

What are good things to put money into that won’t get inflated into oblivion

I’ve always just kept my savings in the bank but I don’t know how practical that is anymore…
I mean you know me, I don't think it'll be a full wipeout back to the dark ages, so Bitcoins and the like are my thing. But it's definitely not for everyone. Same for the stock market, growing divide between the technocrats and what was the middle class as they dump all their resources into the market.

If you're more conservative though, land is always good, especially as they crank up the immigration numbers up to 500k per year. Plus even if the conservatives take over, they still love immigration for all the money it brings in.

Otherwise, I guess tools/resources. I know casks of whiskey have given fantastic returns, though that's probably a hard market to get into.

My dad has a very particular market he invests in, and he does very well, but only because of his deep knowledge of it

I am kind of an economic retard, all I know how to do is save money by doing things myself and balance a budget. Investing to hedge against inflation scares me
CHILDREN! INVEST IN CHILDREN! INVEST IN YOUR FUTURE!
There you go, leave the investing stuff to your man, and all is right with the world.
@parker @Becassine >leave the investing stuff to your man
it used to be that women would manage the finances though
I mean, it finances were probably simpler before everything became hyper-financialized. And having kids fries about 90% of a woman's cognitive capacity.
@parker @Becassine >And having kids fries about 90% of a woman's cognitive capacity.
I take issue this because 1) women exaggerate everything 2) you are implying that women have cognition and agency
@LukeAlmighty @Becassine @parker the women having kids thing is interesting because women talk about how childbirth is suuuuper painful, but pain scales actually exist. there are insects with more painful bites than pregnancy because there are women have had had birth and compared the two. bullet ants are supposed to be more painful than pregnancy, and yet there are people who have taken bullet ant bites and they apparently aren't *that* painful, there's evidence to suggest that celebrities/youtubers who take the bites are just acting for the camera.

same thing with period cramps, women complain about it as an excuse for their bad behavior, but I've actually given a GF mct oil before which causes cramps, and the cramps that it gave her were 10x worse than any period cramp she had before and she was debilitated by it. the cramps suck if you overdose but they aren't *that* bad.

til I suspect women are full of shit by these things because they are female only experiences and they can get away with it
@LukeAlmighty @Becassine @parker >yet there are people who have taken bullet ant bites and they apparently aren't *that* painful, there's evidence to suggest that celebrities/youtubers who take the bites are just acting for the camera
the bullet ant gloves are rituals that children do to prove they are men and if a child can do I can absolutely do it, and I would do it any time anywhere without hesitation
