Do you think, that a person who does not believe in the existence of ultimate being called God can be called a Christian, if he lives in a Christian culture?
I said no, but the word can also have several meanings. If we're talking just about a population that is either Christian or atheists whose ancestors were Christians, I'd say no for sure. If we're also talking about a Muslim minority in a country and contrasting them to the Christian/culturally Christian majority, I might say yes
I now see that you had Jordan Peterson in mind. Yeah, his thoughts on Christianity really annoyed me when I tried listening to him years ago. He's a straight-up atheist, but he tries to pretend he's a Christian because blah blah blah psychobabble
@LukeAlmighty@LukeAlmighty I believe in God but in a different religion. Isn't Christianity a religion to believe in God? Because that person wouldn't be Christian by then. A Muslim is not a Muslim if he does not believe in God, wouldn't it be the same for Christianity?
No, but there is an idea in Mormonism called a Jack Mormon. Someone who is culturally Mormon but isn’t active in the Church and likely doesn’t believe in God.
I am obviously asking after several debates based on this video.
