I think the argument boils down to "You have a contrary opinion, therefore you're a contrarian for no other reason than to be contrary. Therefore you're simple minded, therefore I can simply dismiss anything you say". It's not very sophisticated thinking, but people often think this way.
I don't like the fact that its existence feels like a gimmick. For something that was the "highest grossing movie" of its time there was no other related media about Avatar basically until today. If this were the 90s there would be cartoons of it and books. But at the time there was only a video game.
And I can accept people like Avatar enough to write erotic fanfiction about it. So what the fuck were they doing other than selling 3D TVs with it?
@zemichi@LukeAlmightyThey had a good marketing run the first time around, and it got people to watch a shitty movie. Lots of people got scammed into watching trash, they didn't like it enough to come back for it. It's probably one of the big markers of the decline of film.
@LukeAlmighty@LukeAlmighty i perceive most left wing politics to be based entirely around jealousy. it doesnt matter how rich they get the hollywood millionaires think billionaires need to pay for their healthcare.there are a lot of people that really do just hate people because they are more successful and they project that mindset onto you
