Because I’m almost as stupid as I am retarded I decided to start reading the current manga by Sui Ishida (of Tokyo Ghoul infamy). Despite only reading one volume so far it feels pretty obvious to me that he’s learned nothing about how to write a good story in the time since REE finished. He’s writing something remarkably similar to Tokyo Ghoul and giving me no reason to expect things will go differently. How hard is it for this man to get an editor who will tell him “no” and force him to focus on what’s interesting about the stories he’s making? Or better yet just have another writer entirely and have him only illustrate.

I can forgive one "soft restart" in a series.
Code Geass did a ridiculously hard one, and they did manage to connect it back to the original story pretty well.

But Tokyo ghoul had at least two of them. One after Kaneki joined Isis, and second after he died... And seriously, how am I supposed to be assed to get used to a 3rd status quo that was created with such a hard cut??

@LukeAlmighty It’s such a mess man. I don’t know how all that got through editorial, I guess it made enough money so they just didn’t care?

Yeah... It was still a great edgy story for teens...

But I wasn't able to get into Ree. the jump was just... nasty.
