Do you mind explaining, how is the AI replacing artists? While, the AI can generate "art", the purpose of commercial art that can be mass produced is completely different from human art, that has to be made on spot and does have a completely different requirements.

How, though? I hear that argument a lot, that AI art is derivative and in no way original and unique like human-made art. I don't really see it, humans make art in much the same way the AI does - by synthesizing images from visual input, experiences and previous art.
(Disclaimer: I'm not an artist, but am quite familiar with generative ai algorithms.)

It isn't something I can put my finger on exactly, but it's the difference between a restaurant and McDonald's.
While you can survive on that shit, if you want to create something useful, you need an artist to go through an interactive process, and build up upon your communication.
Even if the AI prompts were set perfectly for one purpose, sometimes, you need something diffferent.
Have you noticed, that all the AI pimpup girls look the same? It is a good look, and while it does serve its purpose perfectly, and even though AI can be re-trained fast, these steps have to be done by an artist to get the result that fits your needs.

Also, as I said, I am not an artist either. I just saw way too many asset flips in my life to know what does it look like when things are not made to fit perfectly.
It's still early days for generative AI though, larger models trained on bigger, higher resolution datasets are in the pipeline and might change things significantly.

Well, you misunderstood me again.

He is not an artist. A "few" weeks ago, he decided, that he would like to create a new game. Since he is not an artist, and he cannot afford to pay one, he used public assets.
The game has a nice low poly artstyle, and so, it shouldn't be hard to find a propper assets right?
As you can see from the picture 2, the assets are uniform and fit together. Ok, I guess I was wrong 
Well, someone did investigate the game, and the single biggest 3D model in the game was... a fucking toothbrush.
Yes, a toothbrush is a thing, that any artist could create in 10 min while also making a morning coffee. It would be 30 polygon, and look exactly the same in the game, as does this one, since NOONE looks at a detail that small on a toon shaded low poly game.
This is why you need an artist. Because any artist can tell you when the "easy solution" got you a seriously retarded result.
