@Awoo
First Star Wars was made in 1977. That is 50 fucking years ago. And the first movie was a ridiculously simple story.
That creates a "Fanbase 0". These people liked 1 move. That's it.
After 2 more movies were made, these 3 movies plus aditional comics made a whole coherent whole. This series had created "Fanbase 1". Fanbase 1 likes the classical story of family tree, fighting the Empire. The force is extremely limited to about 10 people in the galaxy, and nothing about it is explained. The entire universe is in decay etc.
Then, after a few years, a prequel trilogy started. This trilogy was from the begining aimed at kids "fanbase 2", and expanding the lore. It swapped the simple "figght the empire" story for a (Ridiculously ambitious) villains jurney. The lore expanded exponentially. The force was described to detail, as well as literally every aspect of the universe. And fanbase 1 hated ALL OF IT. Because it was the polar oposite of "rebels good, empire bad".
The fanbase 1 was so anoying, that after years of bullying, they literally bullied George lucas to sell Star Wars to Disney. And since Disney marketing is done on boomers, all they saw was hatred of expanded lore. So, the first thing Disney had done was to delete literally entire lore, that fanbase 2 loved so much. After that, Kathleen Kennedy (short KK, current owner of Star Wars) wanted to get rid of some copyright issues, while keeping the Fanbase 1. So, she decided to copy the story of first Star Wars movie to the last detail, but with slight variations.
This backfired badly, since Fanbase 1 loved the original characters more then anything else, and reseting their progress was a crime against their holy book. And if that wasn't enough, No "Fanbase 3" was born.
So, Fanbase 1 hates Star Wars, because all their heroes are losers now.
Fanbase 2 had their entire lore deleted and replaced with trash
There is no fanbase 3
And fanbase 0 is in retirement.

So, now, KK is pushing for expanding new lore, because she hopes that the fanbase 3 is finally going to form. Everyone shits at fanbase 2, even though, we get sometimes a few specs of content, that is still not connected to the "legends" lore, so what's the point.
The only part that every fanbase likes is the original trilogy, so that is why literally all the content from last few years was exclusively from that era, but both fanbase 1 and 2 know, that all of it leads to trash, that is destroying the entire point for them.
@Awoo @lina @AshChapelsGhost
Yeah, clone wars was peak Star Wars. The point, where you could grow the lore as much as you want...
Yes, I am an obvious fanbase 2 fanatic :D

Also:
The sequel trilogy is a writing mess beyond comprehension.
This single frame completely broke every single space battle that ever had or will happen in Star Wars. And that is just one example out of more then I can count.
(sorry for double edit, I am at work :D)
What is it about Star Wars and the actors wanting to forget about it?
