Just wait, till this person notices, that people in Star Trek are all working for the army.

@lis
Just so I can explain this better, these people spend decades of their life, living in a military submarine. They have no right for property, their crew quarters are just as big as their position allows, all food has to be approved, most of them die in service, and the few who don't die... get retired to a nice home.

Sure. So, your dream of ideal society is a pension fund quadruple the size of a current one, and with higher mortality? Because sure, I can see that allowing you to save up for a few years of rent when you're done working.

@LukeAlmighty @lis I'm assuming that's just the expedition, and the rest of humanity is doing... something else (idk I haven't seen the show)

Starfleet is the government. That means logistics, military, police, diplomats and rescue missions. But in the shows, we see almost no life outside of the fleet, and the little we do see is a normal capitalist society.
