Yes, I think it is necessary. If you accept their definition of the term, you are in fact allowing them to communicate their ideas without looking like a clowns and need to explain their way of thinking.

And saying "sex" is just awkward :D

And, as the activists have shown, only the side that refuses to budge can win the definition war.
