Conservatives will be like "given the chose between a child molester and a homosexualist, I'd choose the child molester, because at least when I leave my kids with the child molester I know what's gonna happen to them. If I leave them with the homo, who knows what's gonna happen? I'd be spending all night worried, are my kids being molested? Not knowing is the worst part, I tell you what."
They lack the ability to form coherent beliefs. The sad truth that for some people their real reasoning is fundamentally "men kissing is bad because men kissing".
They can't articulate a reason why, so they make one up and then discard it later. I've seen TERFs bring up detransitioners and then proceed to harass someone who regretted a double mastectomy as having "zipper tits". The concern wasn't about care or ethics, men in dresses just scare them.
