A pro tip for my #neurodivergent and/or #autistic fam:

Do you have experiences that are sensory hell, like the dentist or the hair salon?

Remember:

It's okay to tell your hygienist or your stylist that some experiences are stressful or painful for you.

It's okay to ask for them to pause for a few minutes if you need to recover.

It's okay to ask them to not do small talk with you.

It's okay to wear earplugs or an eyemask or to bring a stim toy or whatever you need.

You don't win any gold stars for suffering. You're allowed to set your boundaries and ask for accommodations.

And if they refuse to be helpful, you're allowed to literally just stand up and leave. Like literally, take off the apron, and walk out the door.
