Practically impossible as schools rely heavily if not solely on apps to inform students about the hows and what’s of the day. But maybe, just maybe it will improve the situation and things will turn for the better.

@LadyMont I was thinking about what a good idea this is, phones were a huge distraction even when I was in high school (around the Motorola Razr era). Then I hit the depressing realization that this wouldn't work in America because kids should be able to get a quick goodbye in with their parents if/when some crazed wacko comes in with a gun.

Hope it goes well for the Dutch kids at least.
@stingray Mobile phones were a huge issue in the early 00s for me and my peers as well. Teachers were still able to confiscate them, but only for the day and I remember that not happening anymore after parents complained to the school.

Distractions were an enormous problem for me, when I was writing my final paper. This has to be solved, but you cannot just put a centralized solution, because you just postpone the moment, where kids have to learn to fight the urge.
