Listening to leftist youtubers will one day drive me insane :D

> Destiny on relationships:
I think there is really big costs to women maintaining bad relationships but maybe not as much for men.

> And then also, especially if childern are involved, a guy can be divorced and separated, and it's not that big of a deal.

He said, being separated from your kid is not a big deal.
-_-

Well, that explains a lot I guess.

@PonyPanda
> "that was a major L for me"
Wow.... This is the difference. He's not 1 000 000 percent in on his every line no matter the cost.

He's still dumb, but he's trying :D

@LukeAlmighty I think you give him too much credit. The reason he's able to form a "right wing world model" in his head is because we're right. He's not using his adderall enhanced 200apm Starcraft player braine to conceive our worldview on top of his "completely foreign leftist worldview." He has our worldview and he's using his Starcraft brain to constantly find ways to attack the weak points he already knows exist in it. That's why he's known for constantly changing the goalposts and gish-galloping. For him... it's not about asserting his "leftist worldview" so much as it him playing a video game and using various "strats" and exploits to defeat the boss. I never see him seriously engaging the ideas or questioning his own. He's playing a fucking game.

Don't think of him as a cool leftist who was brace enough to be slightly "cross-pollinated" by us. Think of him as a traitor from our side who wants all the benefits that come with acceptance from the establishment.

Watch the Fresh and Fit debate with Nick. You'll see how badly he struggles because he can't "play." He doesn't have his streaming rig with multiple monitors to look at all the different sources his Discord flunkies are googling. Conversely, Nick is amazing.
@PonyPanda @LukeAlmighty destiny is a major L personified
And actually, unironically using " taking an L" on a debate...
Just cringe and sad
@Kagekokoro @LukeAlmighty it's popular vernacular and look at the crowd he's around. It's not exactly Chatham House. The whole point of Destiny is that he was the first "leftist" that could get into "streetfights" with the people who formed their worldview in the unmoderated ghettos of the internet.
@PonyPanda @LukeAlmighty
I thought destiny came from the same gutter but on the opposite side of town if you get my drift

@NEETzsche
I am glad you care, but that would kill me :D

To tell an autist to not analyze the world he lives in is like telling an artist to stop drawing.

@LukeAlmighty Analyze the world all you want lol, just be acutely aware that the wacky opinions of Internet people are not the world

@NEETzsche
Sure.
I have actually posted many times, that I love the fact, that people around me are not in the cult.

But philosophy is formed at the edges of the spectrum. There is nothing intellectually interesting in the middle :D

@LukeAlmighty I think you should read / consume more serious philosophers than these guys. I don't find their neosophistry that compelling.

@NEETzsche
Nah...
Reading "serious philosophers" seems like a waste of time to me. This might be because of my education, but I saw, how do "real economists" think, and while they had the most pointless layered terms, all they did was hide the truth, that was ridiculously simple.

If economy professors cannot handle "inflation is a tax", because his special term for tax in his dictionary web doesn't allow the connection, then everything he says from there on is useless.

@LukeAlmighty I'm audiobookpilled for a while now. I wish that you could get podcasts on topics other than politics these days but you really can't.

@NEETzsche
Yeah...
I am sorry about that. Before podcasts, this used to be solved by watching TV, but that's even worse somehow :D

@LukeAlmighty It's not your fault I'm just telling you that this is a deliberate trap. They want to get you to spin your wheels on internet debatebro shit and podcastrace e-drama. You could start a family, open a business, start some FOSS project, name it, but instead you're trying to "analyze" the political philosophy of a washed up eSports gaymer. They're deliberately putting this crap in front of you to distract you.

@NEETzsche
> You could start a family, open a business, start some FOSS project, name it, but instead you're trying to "analyze" the political philosophy

Man, I know you mean well, but you cannot just go to an autistic guy, and tell him he can form a family. :omegalul:

@LukeAlmighty I think it's more realistic than you believe. What is "autism" anyway? I've got some years on you, and I'll say, when I was a kid "autism" meant being clinically retarded and screeching into the void when your daily routine got interrupted. Now it seems to mean being awkward at parties and liking model train sets.

One of these people probably can't have a family and a normal life and the other one can.

@NEETzsche
Nah, my point was quite different.

To quote my favorite TV character:
"I am trying doprdele"

@NEETzsche
Also, just in case it makes any difference to you, I was diagnosed 20 years ago in a process, that included brain scans for some reason.

So, it isn't a modern self-diagnosis.

But I am seriously tired of explaining to people (mostly boomers), that I do in fact want a relationship, and it was the thing I wanted the most for the last 13 years of my life.

@NEETzsche
But you mentioned, that I should focus on real philosophers.

I will skip the obvious attack on "what if nothing is real" shit that Jaden Smith would argue, because I have already expressed my disdain for Etymology (or whatever variation of word meaning science).

What is the value you see in the real philosophy?

It’s better thought out on average. Don’t think for a second that there weren’t a bajillion pseuds in 1850 or whenever. However, they all got forgotten because their views weren’t worth considering in the first place, or were, at best, topical writings that haven’t been relevant since politics became about something else. So the things you find out about now from the distant past have lasted the test of time, which is a test worth taking seriously.

That isn’t to say that I don’t discuss things with people. I’m doing it with you right now. However, my standards for who I will chat with on the fediverse are very different from my standards for who I will listen to for 3 hours straight in an audiobook/podcast. Or read for a similar amount of time. All of the new kids on the block whose opinions I take seriously enough to listen to their long-form shit are nobodies, Literally Whos.

@NEETzsche @LukeAlmighty also... in all the time I've known Luke, I think this is the first time I've seen him talk about podcasters. You really should be directing this to people responding to Jim's threads.

@PonyPanda @NEETzsche
Nah, I rant about them quite often.

Since my job has a long slices of "low brain needed", or even "just wait" moments, It is a perfect way to fill in the gaps.

Start and work on projects instead. Seriously. Start your own, or work on someone else’s.

Get that ambitious. Why do you suppose I’m doing my stupid magazine, which is increasingly getting consumed by loreshit? Fuck being a consumer of product. Become producer of product.

@NEETzsche @PonyPanda
This is one thing, that I fully understand you don't have to understand.

But I am an atheist with no community. This is my life, and working more would be a total waste of it at this point.

@LukeAlmighty I do understand. I'm not making the things I am out of a sense of obligation, at least not in any social sense. I'm doing it for my own direct purposes. I want to make cool shit pretty much for it sounds sake, trying to sell it commercially is sort of a side issue. If you set aside the equipment expenditures, I'm in the black. Basically, I'm telling you that passion projects are a better use of your time than this Internet debatebro shit.

If you can find a passion project that will also generate enough cash to live on, you should jump on that shit like nobody's business. If your job is unfulfilling, you'll need to have your work work and your passion project shit separate. If you feel uninspired, you can join somebody else's thing.

But what I'm saying is that specifically this internet debate stuff is a trap to get you to waste your time on Earth
I think internet debate is useful. In a good debate I learn more about my own arguments and occasionally get new ideas from my opponent too. It's important to recognise when a debate is generating useful discussion though and when it's turning into screeching.
