But as much as I want to joke about it, honestly starting to think maybe theres a reason behind it. Not just being lazy and a redditor, but an ACTUAL reason. Dont know how common it is, but at my church every service is like a cycle of go in, listen to a few of the 10 songs they know that have been on the christian radio station since 10-15 years ago, get another sermon on "jesus loves you", "dont be a hypocrite", "jesus died for you" and if were feeling crazy we get a bare bones explanation of a story we never heard.
Seeing as I see this "atheist because of sunday" thing in other people besides faggy redditors (even though they never say they are specifically atheist, maybe theist?), It really makes me think theres room to improve

An atheist here, who went through a few ceremons. Although, I am an atheist for a different reason.
But ceremons do NOTHING for someone who doesn't belive. Hearing about Jesus's love for example is like hearing about the government that helps you...
No matter how you argue it, you are wasting your life away listening to stories that mean nothing to you. So, I get, how that did grow a ton of resentment.
Also, try to combine it to the world we grew up in. It was the world, where authority figures shat on our heads the entire time. So, listening to yet another authority to say how they care, just to ignore all the problems... again.... was not as persuasive as you might hope :D

But also, the priest had no idea what my life even was, so obviously, there is a part of the problem.

When I think about it, the ceremons were a great personification of 2 hour long "ok boomer" session.
Evangelism seems to be about whittling people down emotionally to conform to a world view, and the same thing exists in the new atheists meetups and events of the 2010s .. which kinda fizzled and went nowhere.
Also, a lot of churches today cater more to the Millennials and Zoomers ... no windows, dimly lit, band on stage with modern songs, lyrics on screens .. they feel more like youth retreats that church services. I went to a Calvary Chapel that was like this last year, and the pastor had some political stances and was more in debt than average. Still .. it was way too long ... and there is a growing divide between those who prefer traditional hymns and the growing modern worship services.

The traditional singing was also the only part of the ceremon that had any real effect. Because even when everything else fails, the feels be reals
Being in a big group of like minded individuals can feel pretty reassuring, until some questions come up and it turns out that the consensus at a church is *far* from "like minded".
There is something really neat about traditional church hymns. What's even better are Unitarian hymnals, which have the same styles of music, just with all the God and Jesus bits neutered.
