My brother worked at a hospital a long time ago, some accountant managers fired the boiler workers when they asked for a pay rise at a pay negotiation meeting.

They closed the hospital for a day or two, because no one else was legally qualified to run the hot water and heating system.

None of the boiler workers would come back to work until their pay rise letters were signed.
