By adding another pair of parenthesis, we get a very different pretty print, the one you would expect to equal 1.
Also, I don't think I've ever read a specification that has a implicit factor operator. Factoring doesn't even need its own operator, since it can be easily represented by multiplication.
I would be shocked to find anyone, working on an important project, not using pairs of parenthesis for precise explicit grouping.
Bottom line, 6/2*(1+2) =/= 6/(2*(1+2)), on literally any system I've used for more than a decade, and it would be silly to try and change that now.
