@McMongoose
Název prý vznikl na základě situace, kdy před mnoha lety jistý muž tesal práh svého domu, který byl jedním z prvních na místě dnešního Pražského hradu…

So, it is named from a door sill.

Don't get the wrong idea.
We are peaceful nation with no strong racist tendencies...

But cikáni....

My blood memory is from the mountains in Czech, before it was Czech and I am EXTREMELY racist.
Tomio Okamura will lead his people into a new dawn

@Granwalder @McMongoose @Dwight88
Good, because he's the most nationalistic guy we have in the government... -_-

Yes, it is that bad.

i still prefer bohemia why you guys gotta change it?

@givenup @McMongoose @Granwalder
I am seriously not sure...
I wasn't paying that much of an attention in history.

bohemia denoutes the region, not the people
ok, and there's a lot of countries that are named after regions what's the big deal? still sounds cooler
nationalism and the idea of the nation state were thing at the time. they also wanted to distance themself from the tight bond with hre and made it know that they are infact slavs
never claimed they are interesting people
It's the same with german town in the usa nowadays, filled with nigs.

@Granwalder @McMongoose @givenup
Well, the area is still called "čechy" though... And I heard "bohém" used as a word for person too.

@LukeAlmighty @Granwalder @McMongoose @givenup Bohemia is an ancient Latin name for the region now known as the Czech Republic. The name "Praha", which refers to Prague, may have various origins. One theory suggests it could have derived from the Old Czech word "pražit", which means "to clear" or "to burn", possibly referring to the clearing of the forest where the castle was later built.

@McMongoose @LukeAlmighty @givenup @Granwalder Certainly, in older Western literature, you can come across references to the location of Bohemia. For instance, in Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories, you can find the origin of Irene Adler, who hailed from Bohemia, a land known for its enigmatic magic and captivating women.

I'd heard that this was a city where people didn't care what you looked like because any random hobo-looking dude could have huge winnings burning a hole in his pocket, so I went there about a decade ago and stayed a bit, only going out late at night.
1. there were outdoor escalators. that was neat.
2. it was lifeless and depressing. I got hassled by a prostitute
3. walked into a completely dead casino. Bouncer wouldn't let me enter a dance club, my casual clothing wasn't classy enough. When I asked a bartender for a drink, a guard appeared out of nowhere to tell the bartender to tell me to fuck off. Why did you even let me in here if I'm so unwelcome?
it's like how the downtown of a city will completely lack anywhere you could possibly pee. You can't even pay to pee, because stores will lie and say the restrooms are out of order. It's a gradual hostility to vagrants - you know, people Biden isn't just giving $2200 a month to, because they're Americans and not a higher class of being like an illegal - that spills over to normal people because it's hard to tell the difference, and as long as 90% of passers-thru don't notice the money still comes in.
