I know, that this is an old video, but some technologies are just unknown to people, even though, they do exist in the exact state where we cannot imagine them :D
@LukeAlmighty I suspect half this old stuff was interested autists just building something and then at year’s end make up a reason to justify the budget waste

Yes. I agree. You actually saw the same thing recently with hobbyist jetpack project.... Or with drones.... The hobby drones reached the stage of formation lightshows way before they started to be used in the military as a missile replacement.
It's almost as if the modern "industrialized advancement in military" was inferior to backyard scientists to some extent.
