I see a lot of people cheering for the "you have to verify your age to look at porn" bill as some victory, and I can almost get why it seems so well-intended on the surface.

Unfortunately, the fact of the matter is a lot can go wrong when you let a third party handle your PII (necessary to make sure that you're "of age" for such things) but also it sets a very WEF-y and very dangerous precedent — it sets a step for the online ID thing, and nope, that's not going to fly at all.

@benzene counter point: any one that hands over their PII in order to obtain porn deserves to have their privacy violated by data mishandling mishaps.

furthermore, the "online ID" mentality is already here, the younger generation know it implicitly. We lost that war some time ago.

Bullshit.
It was boomers who gave up on online anonymity with the creation of facebook. Young people might seem to be giving info up, but they still have MANY alts for their alt needs.
