One of the trends I have noticed among people 5 years younger then me was, just how insanely comfortable they were sitting on the ground. It is an actual barrier for me to hang out with them, but more importantly, I was wondering, where the fuck did this new social standart came from.
And after months of thinking, it finally hit me. The reduction of 3rd spaces is actually much worse then I thought. The boomers were removing social spaces so fast, that young people no longer even expect a free table a chair to be avaiable to them.
THEY ARE USED TO LIVING LIKE THIS, BECAUSE THEY GREW UP WITHOUT A PLACE AT THE TABLE!!!
@GapYoukai
What do you mean? Do they do 1/2 of the group activites on ground or something?
@GapYoukai
OK... That was the much weirder possibility.
I don't think we were forced to do that humiliation beyond 3rd grade.
And during highschool we had to sit on the ground whenever we did stuff outside the classroom, the main thing being the school wide roll-call that happened in the morning.
Sitting on the ground was the norm for both at recess and lunch.
