Fucking google, why is it every time I fucking google something on my phone? It tries to get me to download the fucking app and I have to clear a notification.

DOJ do your fucking worst. Break it all into tiny pieces of shit. I’m so tired of these assholes.

@SlicerDicer
I called a local pizza place with 3 employees to check if they're open...

And did you know we have an app?

FUUUUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKK YYYYYOOOOUUUUU!!!!!!@

@LukeAlmighty @SlicerDicer I have restaurants around here I won't even go to because they require that you call to make a reservation.

Sorry pals, if you want my money you'll let me book it online.
@LukeAlmighty @feld That’s your first problem. Going somewhere on a holiday. 😎
@LukeAlmighty @SlicerDicer oh yeah, you can't trust online schedules for holidays. idiots can barely keep their hours correct on any platform (google, apple maps, yelp, etc)
@feld @LukeAlmighty Ohh how late is autozone open? 8pm?

Show up at 7:45 and it’s closed.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu globocorp

@feld @SlicerDicer
I had to report srveral times restart had incorrect opening hours on their own websites.

Yeah... and once even that they had incorrect link on Google maps to their web. It's literally endless incompetence.

@LukeAlmighty @SlicerDicer I made sure my wife's cafe had correct info on every platform possible and people were amazed by it like we had special treatment from these companies

no you idiots you just login and fill out the form yourself
@feld @LukeAlmighty Stranger danger, can be corrected by simply using an app.
@SlicerDicer @LukeAlmighty my wife and I have discussed this at length -- "stranger danger"

people are like "millennials aren't good neighbors or community members because they are so introverted and don't want to hang out with their neighbors"

more like "we grew up being told to avoid speaking to strangers at all because they all want to kidnap us in their vans and rape us"
@feld @LukeAlmighty Is it just me or is there a dramatic shortage of vans and risk these days.
@SlicerDicer @feld @LukeAlmighty Right, like no creepy old dudes in some beat up van trying to give out free candy anymore.
@SlicerDicer @LukeAlmighty I specifically remember there being a scare where someone spread the rumor someone was coming into our town in a van and trying to pick up kids

I'm pretty sure it was a lie, but holy shit did the community go nuts over that. Passing out flyers at church level paranoia.

Like listen people, the only way I'm getting raped at the [Catholic] school playground is if the priest invites me into the rectory. The only perv in this town is the priest.
@feld @SlicerDicer @LukeAlmighty there were several high profile abductions in the 80s that set that all off
@sun @feld @LukeAlmighty >> there were several high profile abductions in the 80s that set that all off

No matter how you slice it, it reminds me of drifter theory. Overblown isolated incidents.
@sun @SlicerDicer @feld @LukeAlmighty what even happened to all those serial killers?

the way that it seems to have vanished in the last 30 years makes me wonder if it was some kind of mkultra op, tbh
@nemesis @sun @feld @LukeAlmighty >> what even happened to all those serial killers?

I ask this all the time, same with all the bombers.

In the last 2 years I’ve got my answer on the bombers. They are there, just the economy was good enough to keep them in line. As the economy falters we likely will see this again. That’s my theory, 2008 wasn’t bad enough nor was 2001. The 80’s hellmode inflation busting really was at odds with mental stability.

In that regard maybe that index the fed should use.

Explosive and Serial index.
@SlicerDicer @feld @LukeAlmighty @sun

yeah the bombings too. people have completely memory-holed that there was an average of more than 5 bombings a day in the US around 1971-1972, and over 2500 total
@SlicerDicer @nemesis @feld @LukeAlmighty after OKC bombing super super strict rules got put on nitrate sales, and they started adding tracer particles to everything sold.
@sun @nemesis @feld @LukeAlmighty Yes, being ag man. I used ammonium nitrate for fertilizing my 408 fruit trees. It’s not too hard to get clearance. But yeah you don’t want to mess with that. However I did discover I can buy ammonium nitrate that I could easily sort. 3D print a sorter and I could remove all but the prilled ammonium nitrate.

28% of 10lb is difficult but a determined person could still make a mess. We didn’t close all the loopholes. It’s very annoying to me actually.
@sun @nemesis @feld @LukeAlmighty I literally just bought 2.8 pounds of ammonium nitrate for cheap with no background check. I’d have to sort it of course to do that. No precaution, no warnings, nothing.

We only appear to resolve these problems. We don’t actually handle it. This is the problem with not having experts who know all this help write the rules. Oversight from hell happens.
@sun @nemesis @feld @LukeAlmighty Yes, but that doesn’t stop the damage from being done.

Spend $22,000 you can buy the same volume mcveigh did. If you know you’re gonna be caught or it’s suicide mode. The cost and time is not relevant. Therefore what I purchased on Amazon should be restricted.

To the FBI, ATF, DHS if you’re reading this? I can show you what the risk is and why this needs to be resolved. Especially with the angst among the population. You’re tempting the lord allowing this to be sold on Amazon.
@SlicerDicer @nemesis @feld @LukeAlmighty I am telling you at that volume you will be checked before you buy. maybe you didn't for a small bag. Farmers have to deal with this.
@sun @nemesis @feld @LukeAlmighty You’re missing my point. Of course go by 600kg of the shit it’s gonna red flag. You need clearance and background checks and legitimate use.

Go on Amazon and start buying it? You could easily accumulate enough in 5 years to not be noticed.
@nemesis @SlicerDicer @feld @LukeAlmighty the panic and helicopter parenting dragged everybody's kids inside which reduced the number of abductions
@sun @nemesis @feld @LukeAlmighty >> the panic and helicopter parenting dragged everybody's kids inside which reduced the number of abductions

I’m not so clear this was the reason. Turning schools into a fenced closed prison daycare facility made it drop imo. Among other changes.
@sun @SlicerDicer @feld @LukeAlmighty it definitely resulted in everyone's kids being pulled inside but I'm doubtful that was a cause of the reduction in frequency. a lot of places still have the same kind of neighborly culture the US used to have (Britain and Ireland seem to, from what I can tell) and don't have a serial killer problem today

the US is genuinely abnormal in having an attitude that a random stranger talking to you is a sign they're a potential rapist or murderer, and even in the US that attitude wasn't present before the 70s afaik. I don't know if it was actually deliberate but the stranger danger panic and broader serial killer panic had a very specific effect of massively reducing social trust in the US
@nemesis @SlicerDicer @feld @LukeAlmighty I'm not sure, there are studies that actually measured this and almost everybody's kid in the last several decades spent it inside mostly. I think a large part of it though is just awareness, like they REALLY beat it into our heads in the 80s and it's never let up. In the early 80s, a kid would totally just get in a car with a stranger. not anymore.
@nemesis @SlicerDicer @LukeAlmighty @sun they get all mad at younger generations and it's like:

- you told us to not trust strangers
- you told us to never even talk to strangers or give them your name
- you wouldn't let us cross the street
- you wouldn't let us be outside after dark

How was this supposed to be conducive to building a community-oriented society?
@feld @nemesis @LukeAlmighty @sun Maybe that was all part of the plan and why boomers are still in control.
@SlicerDicer @nemesis @feld @LukeAlmighty they are literally holding on to the reins of power until they collapse dead
@feld @nemesis @SlicerDicer @LukeAlmighty my conspiracy opinion is that there has been a full spectrum attempt to destroy community in the USA. They want a sundown city where you work and then go to bed and get up and go to work. I have mentioned this before and I don't have a citation for it but government sociologists were scared to death that fraternal organizations would seed fascism in the USA and worked to kill them all.
@sun @SlicerDicer @feld @LukeAlmighty yes, 100%. Adam Curtis' documentary The Century of the Self talks about this indirectly
@sun @LukeAlmighty @SlicerDicer @feld I don't have a single source for it either but after WWII the CIA (and its precursor, the OSS) engaged in one of the largest social engineering projects in history to try to bury "fascism" for good, and we've been living with the consequences ever since
@nemesis @SlicerDicer @feld @LukeAlmighty yeah I have read about this too but I can't remember where. Basically all this stuff was DONE to us. It sounds like a conspiracy but then you read and...
@nemesis @sun @LukeAlmighty @feld Pretty sure communism was the bigger scare in my childhood. The front page of the paper the day I was born was Soviets among us going to ruin America stay alert.
@SlicerDicer @feld @LukeAlmighty @sun a lot of the post-WWII social engineering was repurposed for the cold war later, look up the Congress For Cultural Freedom
@feld @LukeAlmighty Fact you get rectum’d in the rectory.

Also why would people just be like yeah I’m gonna drive an obvious van in and start the mystery machine of rape. I mean I guess it happened some, however seems like a really good way to get caught in the small communities I’ve lived in.

One of the kids that @pixie went to school with was trying to do this crap. Using ice cream and candy and shit to try to lure young girls. He was a bastard too. Like fucking bent human. I should have beat his ass to a degree of life. When he messaged my wife and went all let’s fuck essentially. Then she’s like I have a boyfriend and all at the time. He basically said he didn’t care. It was really weird. Then when we went to the grocery store the fucker was staring down my wife. Called her a bitch and whore. Yeah that’s exactly how it works. Refuse to have sex outside your relationship = whore.

The risk is not from some dude in a van, it’s the weird fuck you went to school with like this one, or the grave digging warming the body boys to fuck the hot girl @feld had happen in his community.

Worried about a fucking van lol. My parents work van was a pure pedo van so I grew up with vans.

Now be afraid of church vans. OoooOoO
@SlicerDicer @feld @LukeAlmighty The worst part was that guy I grew up with and considered him like an older brother since he was only 4 years older than me and then by the time I got to 18 he got all creepy on me.
@feld @LukeAlmighty As to stranger danger, in my experience. Going to the ghetto of Sacramento, Emeryville, Hollywood, etc. Those strangers. Walking around at 3am? As that’s the only time they have free as they are so poor? They are out walking kids in strollers and stuff. Very nice people, there is little reason to fear. Sure things can happen. Can’t be any worse than the risk of getting mass shot these days.
@SlicerDicer @LukeAlmighty I walked through the Baltimore NO SHOOT zone in 2017, saw people tweaking, stumbling, shuffling around. Got a lot of stares. But nobody fucked with me. :shrug:
@feld @LukeAlmighty Exactly. If you chatted with the people? You’d find they are super nice. Just like walking around your old neighborhood @feld
