When did this depiction of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah originate from? Because those things look a whole lot like rockets, and I don't think there was anything comparable at the time this description originates from...

The falling chunks could be literally anything from debrees to a vulcanic eruptions. But, the hellish landscape seems like a common fire to me.
