I've been having these thoughts for a while now, that even ignoring how disastrous the Iran war is on its own merits, Trump is just a TERRIBLE wartime president. His skillset seems uniquely ill-suited for it: all those classic Trumpisms that usually play so well with his base - the bluster and bullshit, the threats and the Trolling, the outrageous statements that make headlines - it's all an extremely bad look when there's an actual war going on, where American soldiers are dying and the American people is enduring economic hardship.
I know complaints about Trump being "unpresidential" usually come across as really lame, faggy and out-of-touch, but again, during wartime you actually SHOULD take care to act with some degree of decorum and dignity. Acting like a Twitter Troll works great when you're smashing liberal sacred cows, not so much when you're bombing school girls and tanking the global economy.
