@Terry they scrapped it in the 1950s but culturally no one will accept you as Japanese even if you're half Japanese and white.

And the only way to get citizenship is to go through their extremely long trial and that you need to own property in Japan for I think seven or five years and be fluent in their language and history and show commitment to be a part of a community and people check up on you regularly and you have to have a high paying job to be even allowed to start this process to begin with. Oh almost forgot you also have to get three Japanese natives to vouch for you for your final citizenship test.

So Japan vet sees people very efficiently but they don't have any vetting process for Tourists which is why you see the most obnoxious people they're always being tourist.
