The Chinese eventually taking Taiwan, followed by a muted, mostly diplomatic and economic response by the US will be the true beginning of the end of US monopolar dominance in the world. There's really nothing they can do militarily since a war is unpopular and would be too costly, but not doing that will kill the empire, they have no winning move.
It's very reminiscent of Asimov's Foundation, namely the point in the novel when the empire realizes the threat at hand, but also realizes it can't really do anything to fully stop it.

I mean like yeah, I guess the US could sink the chinese navy, but the chinese could just rebuild it, they sink an aircraft carrier its curtains for us.
Europe is already leaning towards China in terms of technology and certain economic treaties, once the US blinks on Taiwan the chinese are going to start offering bigger and more sweeping sweetheart deals to Europe and they are going to start playing ball, especially if the Chinese offer them the resources to get US Intel to stop meddling in their affairs.
@Shadowman311 I'm convinced with zero evidence that the Belt and Road Initiative was Chinas way of testing the US ability to perceive multi-election and multi-generational threats, and once we failed tremendously, they decided to just do whatever they want.

@kc-poast @Shadowman311 yep. I guess the United States could hold on to some global influence by asserting his domination over Latin America and still keeping its influence in the northern hemisphere. But most likely it will fuck it up.

But do to the United States geography and general infrastructure it can't be conventionally invaded.

Meaning the downfall of the United States truly will be from it's own people, truly a devastating realization.

@Mr_NutterButter @kc-poast They are already creating a military command specifically for the new world so that's the plan
