@VD15 I do find it interesting that the ship concept is more of a western idea.

A great example this is a large majority of shrines in Japan need to be replaced every 30 to 40 years because they're entirely made out of wood.

Meaning shrines that have been there supposedly for 800 years technically don't exist anymore because they had to be replaced so many times but to many people it doesn't matter because they still consider the shrine standing.

So maybe it's a perception of lineage rather than true origins which is why it's very Western concept.
