D-Day joke

An old veteran was looking through his bag for his passport. The woman on passport control asked him, “Have you visited France before?”

“Yes,” replied the old man.

Sarcastically she responded, “Well surely you should know to have your passport ready,” to which he answered, “I didn't have to show it last time.”

“Impossible!!” she barked.

The old man looked her straight in the eye and said, "Last time, when I landed on D-Day in 1944, I couldn't find a dadgum Frenchman to give it to.”

Nice @Twig, this is the first D-Day reference I've seen in two days.

@Twig

@techriot I'm not a professional writer but yeah, that's me too. Writing like coding and tricking out devices are just some of my hobbies. I'm working in the Linux console right now and this client allows me to chat on the fediverse without a GUI.

Good conditions for you….
Any hiring opportunities available?

@Twig

@techriot No, not really. Everybody is kinda tight on the purse strings these days. I suspect that this will be the reality for several years.

@Twig

@techriot AI is just a lot of hype and gaslight. Just like bitcoin and other intangibles. Some people need and love to be distracted.

@Twig

@techriot No I think AI is more relevant than sports. Sports is borderline irrelevance. We should work out more and watch sports less.

@agentcasey @techriot

AI has a lot of entertainment components too, and it creates jobs just as sports do.

Sports aren't only about watching a game. They support entire industries, communities, and livelihoods. Without spectators, much of professional sports would parish.

In a way, both AI and sports depend on participation. AI needs users; sports need spectators. The balance may be different, but I wouldn't call either irrelevant.

@Twig

@techriot I forgot how much you actually do love AI. I imagine that parts of the tech can be fun too.

Look, @Derp made a video clip: Kitty Collie and Ella the Vella rowing.

It features Ella the Vella with one eye Big Bang, and Big Crunch on the other, the beginning and the ending of WHAT?
